Based in a different cultural context, this discussion will address the ways in which art brut emerges in a unique way in China, and offers a novel perspective about this type of artistic production.
As part of the exhibition Nothingness gives birth to being : Outsider Art in Nanjing, presented at the Outsider Art Fair Paris 2018, Nanjing Outsider Art Studio will host a discussion between Guo Haiping, an innovator of art brut in China and founder of the Nanjing Outsider Art Studio. In addition to speaking of his personal experiences, he will also discuss the trajectory of art brut and the important role it plays in contemporary Chinese society.
