Information

At the initiative of Charles-Henri Filippi, the third edition of the Art Absolument Prize for Outsider Art seeks to improve the visibility and acknowledgment of a creative sector – whether we call it art brut, Outsider Art, or Singular Art – which develops in the margins of institutional eyes.

During the Outsider Art Fair Paris, Art Absolument will present the prize to a living female artist whose work will be shown at the fair.

The jury for 2019 – Antoine Frérot (president), Danielle Grall, Françoise Monnin, Gisela Blanc and Marc Strauss – will examine a selection of works chosen by curator Hannah Rieger.

The winner will be awarded 10,000 € and their work will be exhibited at the Espace Art Absolument from Thursday, October 31 through Saturday, December 7, 2019.

Hannah Rieger has been collecting Art Brut since 1991. In 2014 she published her first work on Art Brut - Kunst, die verbindet (United in Art) - through AQ-Verlag, Vienna. The Globart book catalogue Living in Art Brut: 123 Works from the Hannah Rieger Collection followed in 2017. In 2018-19, Art et Marges musée (Brussels), showed 105 works from her collection, Les Femmes dans l' art brut?. In 2019, Hannah Rieger (together with Ingried Brugger) curated Flying High. Female Art Brut Artists at Kunstforum Vienna and is the co-editor of the exhibition catalogue. Hannah Rieger also works as a lecturer and moderator on art topics.
